Saipan Cares for Animals (SCA) is a rescue clinic serving the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) - a U.S. territory in the Western Pacific . We offer low-cost medical services for cats and dogs, including spay/neuter surgery, flea and tick prevention, and emergency care. We also rescue injured and abandoned animals and care for them until they are ready to adopt out to a loving home.
SCA is comprised of a dedicated group of volunteers whose mission is to improve the life of every dog and cat on Saipan through sterilization, medication, and socialization.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Help us raise funds for our visiting veterinarians!
Updated: October 23, 2020
Without a veterinarian on staff, Saipan Cares relies on the generosity of our visiting veterinarians for all sterilization (spay/neuter) procedures. Our volunteer vets also help by consulting with our staff on difficult cases, and by performing other surgical procedures such as amputations. Our visiting veterinarians come from all over the world, including the US mainland, Japan, and Australia. However, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, SCA has been unable to bring any visiting veterinarians to the CNMI. Our waiting list for sterilization has grown to over 400 people.
We are so pleased to announce that our next visiting veterinarians are going to be arriving in Saipan on November 16 and will be staying through mid-December. This is going to be one of our longest volunteer vet visits ever and we are hoping to make a huge dent in that waiting list!
We are asking for donations in order to fund this visit! We need to purchase surgical supplies and ensure that our volunteer vets have lodging and transportation. We are also setting up a sterilization fund for stray animals so that we can make an effort to bring stray populations down! Money that is not used for this veterinarian visit will be rolled over to our next visit (hopefully in December).
CLINIC SERVICES OVERVIEW
Updated: October 23, 2020
To better accommodate our clients' schedules and the growing demand for services, the Saipan Cares Clinic is testing out expanded open hours. For the month of October, starting on October 5, SCA will be open from 12pm-3pm on MONDAYS. This is in addition to our current schedule of Tues-Fri 12pm-3pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.
Near the end of October we will reevaluate and decide if we will make Mondays a permanent part of the SCA Clinic schedule.
Please call Beth Pliscou at (670)285-5448 if your pet is having a medical emergency, including:
Not eating or lowered appetite (even for just one day!)
Lethargy or tiredness
Cuts or wounds, such as from a fight with another animal, person, or being hit by a car
Bleeding from the eyes, ears, mouth, genitals, or anus
Vomiting or diarrhea
Saipan Cares is not a free clinic. We do not receive government funding, and we do not charge for our services - only for the medication your pet needs to be healthy. We offer most medications at cost, meaning we only charge as much as it costs us to purchase.
